What Happened To Honest Work?
Do you know of anyone who can’t seem to find someone to do something like paint, yardwork or what ever? There seems to be a growing dilemma for workers. Even on jobsites, keeping people busy is a full-time job in itself.
People that don’t want to work who have jobs put a strain upon the job to stay in existence. When they are there just to get their time in, it won’t be long, they’ll be out of work.
Where did this growing trend come from? The Word of God says, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Psalms 11:3. The foundation of all society is the home. Home is where the problem is started and if things aren’t corrected at home, then the trend will continue. Parents must educate their children in correct habits of industry and see that they learn the importance of how to live at an early age.
At the school, sports activities take the place of honest work. Children used to do agricultural work and trades that would give them exposure to working. Some schools have begun to see this need but opposers of practical skills are many and much of the time they overrule these healthy habits.
So what’s happened to honest work? Its waiting on somebody to see the problem and have the nerve to correct it.
“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.” Genesis 3:19.
